I have had my right nipple pierced for about 9 months now, and i still get the occasional minimal crusties.
last nite when i was in bed i kept having this annoying feeling on my nipple, and i woke up this morning to find dark yellow crusts on both sides of the bar, the worst its been so far. it looks like blood and lymph mixed together. it feels quite sore at the moment.
i dont have an aftercare anymore, i just pour water over it and use a Q-tip soaked in water to remove them.
also, i have heard how ptfe bioplast bars are good for those piercings taking long to heal, because of its flexible nature and how lymph doesnt stick to it.
is it safe to remove the titanium bar and replace it with ptfe then?
Were you pierced with the barbell or a ring? Was the piercing done with titanium product?
How often do you get these yellowish crusties? No matter what sex you are, this piercing opens up the milk ducts and can express milky fluid from time to time. If you are a female, it may coinside with your period. For males, this time frame differs from person to person.
If you have blood mixed in with the discharge, you may have injured it in some way either while you slept or that something was acting on it, as you wrote "kept having this annoying feeling on my nipple".
The plastic barbelsl are something that we are not very happy with. The few clients who have used them find them annoying and uncomfortable. Most clients use them as temporary jewellery as work does not allow them to have piercings and they need to cover them up. No one keeps them in place indefinitely. We do not recommend using them as permanent jewellery, but you need to decide what you want to do.
There is no fact that discharge does not stick to the barbell. If any discharge dries on the plastic, it will stick just as it does to metal. Warm water soaks will remove the crusties from any material.
Good luck
i was pierced with a titanium bar.
i used to get the white crusts from time to time but it hasn't really bothered me that much because it didn't hurt or anything. Anyway, i just needed to be careful i dont scratch the inside of the piercing.
it was only a couple of days ago that they the discharge was not normnal and my nipple felt sore. it hasn't bled since then and there doesn't seem to be any visible crusts or discharge now. is that a good thing or a bad thing? its still a bit painful to touch though.
my friend had her nipple done and it was weeping and such so she decided to get the bar changed to ptfe after 7 months, she said its healed nicely ever since. but i went to one of my local piercing shops the other day, and the piercer disagreed with the use of them as well.
We do not recommend using titanium jewellery as its a metal our body does not recognize as a foreign substance. This product is used in the human body to replace bones etc. We have read about instances where the barbells became attached to the body part and required surgery to be removed.
We will insert titanium after 6 weeks when the body has started to form the granulation tissue.
We are concerned that the nipple is still sore and yet you cannot explain why that is so. Keep on eye on it and try not to bump it in any way. Try the warm water compress to see if that may help a little bit.
With respect to the plastic barbells, we have seen more problems if they are kept in as jewellery, but do fine when used for retainers for work.
More of the same issue here. My nipple feels fine in all respects after 3 months of being pierced with a surgical steel bar, and is yellowy crusting.
I'm just curious, if it continues to lactate (if that is in fact what it's doing) indefinitely, should i still not put it in strangers' mouths for fear of transmitting infections? Or should it be assumed okay and healed and normal even with the crusties? (I'm a little paranoid about these things.)
Thanks!
Are you moving and cleaning the barbell? Is the barbell fitting well or is there some leverage?
If you clean it, what product do you use and how often?
How long have you had the yellow crusties? How do you get rid of the crusties?
The more information you can give, the better we can assist you.
Lactating should not be happening each day. It sort of follows your cycle. We believe that its something else and until this issue is resolved, we do not suggest doing any sharing.
