I got the same bump as everyone else has
i've been trying to figure out what it is for a while now then i came across this site and it answered alot.
i've had my piercing for just over a month now and i'm really happy with it. also considdering im one of the only males with a diamond stud in his nose as opposed to a ring ;]
i've read that i need to leave it alone completely so i'll do that. But i just have a couple of questions.
I've been wearing a bandaid while i sleep because i'm not a very still sleeper so i fear my stud will come out when i knock it or something.
But i read a little snippet of information before that told me bandaids are a bad idea so i am wondering about that??
Also what is a warm water compress???
its said alot in this forum and people seem to know what it is. haha i feel like a new kid at school asking questions everyone knows the answer to.
but any answers or advice would be appreciated
thanks.
MJ
Sorry about your bump.
For a warm compress use a cloth or clean paper towel and and run warm but not hot water over it and hold it to your nose for 5 minutes or so.
Not sure about the bandaids, someone said that they taped a piece of gauze to their nose while they were sleeping, that seems a little more gentle than a bandaid, but I don't know it the admin will recommend that.
Good luck

It sounds like you got the piercing done with a gun and you have in fact an ear lobe stud in your nose. If not, is the jewellery straight or have a bend in it?
If you use a bandaid to keep it in place, we assume you have no backing and it has a heavy top end. Please find another type of jewellery; at least an L-shaped one or a nostril screw. This will make sure it stays in better and you no longer need the bandaid.
Leaving it alone is best for this piercing because the more you do the greater chance you have of irritating it and the result is a bump.
hey, nah i didnt get it done with a gun
and the jewelry is right, its a little diamond L-shaped stud.
but i knocked it half way out in my sleep once when i slept without a bandaid.
The more you injure the piercing, the longer it will take for the bump to go away.
The warm water compress should help calm down the tissues and eventually the bump will be reabsorbed into the body.
Its the body that does the healing for any piercing, the less damage we do to the piercing the faster the body can do its job.
