Hey! it has been a while since the last time I contacted you. But again, I am in need of desperate help. I've had my navel pierced as you know for the third time. I've had it pierced since last July. It's been a while now. My last problem I asked was if it was normal that the skin pierced was getting smaller... but you said it was fine because it happens with the swelling and all, as long as it does not further continue.
But now what's REALLY weird is my next problem. As you know the skin that was pierced did shrink a little, but it did not further on so thank God for no migration. But now... for some reason it is as if the skin grew back?! my belly ring used to show a little of the bar, but now today I just checked on it visually and saw that now the whole bar is covered. The bottom hole seems as if maybe theres something inside the skin... I don't know what it is though. It doesn't hurt, but it looks really weird. I don't know how it happened... but a few weeks ago my little brother did hit me in the stomach by accident causing my navel to bruise a little but it wasn't any type of major pain I couldn't handle. it's fine. but weird! I need help please write back asap.
P.S:
2 Random Questions:
1.) Is it okay to use BAR SOAP? because I use it a lot now when taking showers baths.
2.) I just found out that my barbell might be an eyebrow ring instead of a belly ring...
I went to the shop in the mall the other day to look for an even lighter belly ring (so that I won't have any more problems) but instead when I asked the lady for a smaller and thinner ring, she said those are eyebrow rings... & that all the belly rings are the same guages. Could this be a problem? I hope not... I don't know what else to do. I don't have any belly rings that are dangly (though I wish I could wear them). I am trying to find a smaller thinner ring because now that I have the eyebrow ring in, I think the gauge is thinner, so my hole is probably thin too... & won't be able to fit an actual BELLY ring in. Should I go to a piercing shop & ask if they have one? I also feel like the skin is getting much smaller, & it's being ripped down as well... but the scar that makes me think that may as well be from the previous piercings. Can I do anything to stop this from furthering on? It sucks that I've had it for a year now, & had it pierced 3 times.
Wow. thanks a lot. it also sounds like such a process & somewhat painful but yeah it is up to me. maybe i'll get the bottom done? i'm not sure but really, thanks for the tip! it was very helpful. if only i lived in Canada! haha take care
Yes, its complicated and difficult to write it out. Glad that we could assist in this even though its in a small way. You are the one to decide and when you do and you need assistance, please write back.
Good luck
thanks for the advice.
but i took it out 2 days ago.
i went to go get a new ring that fit my size like you told me to... so i went to a piercing shop and asked. except none of them had a 16 guage. all they had were the eyebrow rings.
they also told me my piercing was migrating bad & that they recommended i take it out, wait 2-3 months & get it pierced again..
but what i don't understand is how it migrated? sometimes my pictures aren't always clear unless seen personally. i followed your exact after care & i rarely ever played with it. the only time i'd touch it was to take care of the crusties. but that was all. is it because i had an eyebrow ring? i decided to take it out because i was afraid the migration process would persist, & i didn't want a more heavier scar than the last two. besides, what if in the future i would want a nice dangly jewelry that is not that heavy? i can't be stuck with eyebrow rings. there'd be no point of a "navel" piercing anyway. so if i got it pierced one more time, for the fourth time... do you think it would be worth it? it rejected the first time (so I was told by the piercer even though I know now that piercings don't reject?), & it migrated the second time, & third time now. so if I got it pierced BEHIND the scar again in the same place (top navel) would it happen again? seems like theres no point if it keeps doing this. whenever I get my navel pierced it always works out fine in the beginning and it stays healthy until a year later. I can never ever keep it for more than a year. it's like a jinx!
but anyway. the piercer I went to recently told me that whoever pierced my navel for the third time didn't do it right at all. he told me that obviously piercers are supposed to know to pierce it behind the scar, i shouldn't have to tell them. is my piercing all due to bad piercers that don't know how to pierce or is it just me?
We use 14g because its thicker and more stable that the 16g. The thinner the wire, the more like a cheese cutter it is and that is what it can do to your piercing. The type of jewellery you were wearing in the photograph was a dangling piece and this can weigh down a piercing and start the migration process.
Since we cannot see you actually, the photograph did not show any negative affects at all. It really did not look like it was migrating; it was just a short piercing.
If you pierce behind the scar tissue, it should greatly reduce the risk of migration. Now there is one more factor that you may not have realized could affect your piercing. Do you sleep on your tummy? If you do and you tried to stop when you got the piercing, you may not have been successful. Once sleeping, your body will go in the direction its wants, regardless of your piercing.
We cannot figure out why after a year you lose your piercing. It could be a combination of reasons. Without physically able to see it, this is about the best we can do to help.
As we could not see the piercing, the picture you sent is what we had to work on. If the piercing was migrating and you removed it you can get it pierced behind the existing one at any time. The current location is not going to be affected by the new piercing. You want to wait 3 months, is your choice - just keep us informed.
Do not clean the piercing, just clean your body as if you never had the piercing. The mederma you want to use is doing some benefit then continue. If you do not notice any improvement, then discontinue.
You definitely want the next piercing to be behind all the scar tissue and the more back the better. This should stabalize your next piercing.
Good luck
We did tell you in our last response, not to clean the piercing anymore. If its itchy, its trying to heal. Since you did not say exactly after what product does it starts itching. there may be a chance that either the soap you are using or the mederma could be irritating the area.
How did you wash your that area before it was pierced? Probably just soaped around the area and went on to other parts of the body... thats just what you should be doing now. Its like you are overcleaning the piercing and irritating the delicate tissues around the piercing. Please leave the area alone.
We cannot say if migration will occur again. It depends on the placement and what you do to take care of it. If you overclean and irritate it, then there is a greater chance that it will happen again. If you want to try the bottom navel, its your decision to make.
Good luck
well hello. long time, no talk.
it has been a while. & i have yet another question for the experts!
it's been about, probably 6-7 months since my last navel piercing dilemma. if you can remember my eyebrow ring in the navel problem, and how it migrated. well i got it pierced three times if you can remember... and all three times it has somewhat found it's way to migrate after it was just about healing. so i'm thinking of getting it pierced for one last time, a fourth time.
is this possible? is it weird, rare, normal? for a person to pierce their navel - 4 times?! i asked my piercer how many times people go into their shop to re-pierce their navels, & he said at most - 3 times. but never a 4th time.
so my question is: am i able to pierce it again for the 4th time, & if so - do you think it will migrate for the 4th time since it already has the last 3 times? it sucks because i honestly really am in love with navel piercings & wish i could have one of my own.
Its very difficult to answer that question because it is surprising us that the last time migrated as well. You stated that the piercer did not want to go deeper because it would mess up your stomach inside... it tells us that he is not very experienced or did not learn from an experienced piercer who would know how to make sure that he does NOT hit the abdominal wall.
If this is why the other 3 times did not work was because he did not place the piercing behind the original scar, then try to find another piercer who will be able to properly pierce you.
We have had several clients who had to have specific piercings pierced more than 3 times and it had to do with hitting their piercing causing migration and in each case, we put the new piercing behind the earlier one. They lasted longer but if they get injured, there is not much we can do to prevent that.
Good luck and please keep in touch
ohhh! no no. i got it pierced 3 times, & all 3 times it had migrated. well, the first time it happened - the piercer said that it was "rejected" but since i have read from here that the piercing does not reject, but it migrates.. then i believe all three times it has migrated.
but i wanted to get it pierced at least once more because i am in LOVE with this piercing. & only on the top part. i asked another piercer if he would recommend piercing it for me because it will be my 4th time, but he said he doesn't know... it is up to me. only because usually people go to him & pierce their navels at most, three times but never a fourth time. i asked him if he could go in deeper behind the original scar & he said yeah he could but he can't go too far in because it may hit that 'abdominal wall'.
so basically. my question to you is if that is normal. but you say you've had clients pierce it many times. & that piercing behind the original will last longer. but what do you mean by longer? so it's only for temporary? :(
In our opinion, a good piercer will know just how far back he she can go without hitting the abdominal wall and to get into that would be too technical and needs to be done hands on.
We have pierced many clients more than 4 times in the same area and each time, behind the original to 'bury' it so that the risk of migration is reduced. There are just some people who are fair skinned whose skin is just delicate and piercings migrate eventually even when doing everything right. So it is possible that even though the next piercing is behind and buried deep, there can be a chance that it could migrate depending on your skin type. We cannot be sure but eventually each person we pierce keeps their piercings until they no longer desire it.
There is another suggestion but it would reduce the flexibility in jewellery choice for you; which is increasing the thickness of the ring to a 12 gauge. This would be thicker, therefore rounder and would also help reduce the risk of migration.
Good luck and keep in touch
