I had my vertical piercing in the end of may this year so, more than two month ago. The piercer putted me a ring and I followed your aftercare procedure. I must add that I had also one of my inner lips pierced that day too and it healed like a breeze.
I have almost no outer lips and my hood and inner lips are quite bigger than the average so, the ring on my hood was always twisting and there was always friction when I was wearing just my underwear so, because of the irritation, after six weeks, I have returned to switch for a curved barbell.
Well, I have no problem with the bottom bead but the other one on the top is always rubbing against my skin and the skin around it was so irritated that I thought it was because there was some water left after my shower so, I just become to push a bit my barbell to dry the skin around with a paper towel and put some polysporin. I was bleeding with this irritation and the moisturizing creme didn't work at all.
Now, since yesterday, I am doing an infection. It's red, it's swelling a lot and there is a lot of greendish liquid inside of my piercing.
I want to say that I don't touch it and I'm unable to have sex since I have it so, what's wrong with it and please, if I can take care of this infection at home, tell me what to do. I would prefer not to have to see a doctor.
Thanks.

Dealing with any infection has to proceed in two directions: Battle the infection, and eliminate the cause. In many cases, the latter is the most important.

Although the ring might have been uncomfortable, your problems appear to be related to the barbell. Switch back to the ring until your infection has cleared up. (When next you go to a barbell, try a longer barbell, and a slightly lager ball on top.)

Polysporin will not help. The most effective topical antibiotic we have found is Bactroban, which might be available only by prescription in your jurisdiction. In Canada it is available OTC. Ask your pharmacist. To use any topical antibiotic, rinse the area gently with warm water, trying to clear any pus, then apply the antibiotic to the ring, and work it gently through the piercing. Bactroban should be applied three times per day. If you are going to use any topical antibiotic, make sure you continue to use it religiously for a full seven days after the infection has disappeared.

With Bactroban, you should see improvement within the first couple of days. If not see your doctor, but continue to use the Bactroban.

Good luck, and keep me posted on your results.

First of all, thanks to answered me.
My ring is back and I have the Bactroban since yesterday afternoon so, I used it two times yesterday and this morning.

My concern is that I forgot to tell you that I had switched for a barbell because I was also swelling a lot with the ring because of the friction and about the medication, I was wondering if you recommend to use a mix of salt and water too because, it's what I have done the first day of my infection and the day after, the swelling and the red colour were gone but there was still some pus inside.

Now, I am using only the medication and the swelling and red are back even if it's a bit less worse. So, what do you think?

My last question is about the barbell. My barbell is 14G, the lenth is 17mm and the bead are 4mm each. How much longer do you recommend me to buy my next one and how big the top head should be?
Thanks

I would not reccomend salt water soaks. Keep with the current medication for as long as was directed and once the swelling has gone down you can change the jewelry. Try a 6mm bead on top.

Hope it heals. Remember, you can only let your piercing heal itself, so the least amount of playing around with it the better.

To Blackstar:

After I've been seen you, I went to see a doctor like you told me to do so. I had one week of antibiotic witch I had to take until sept 4. In my case, the doctor told me to clean my ring with a bit of hydrogen peroxide too.
So, until today, everything was fine. No more swelling, no pain. I was possible to wear my panties without any problems. I try the bermuda and it works but Im still sensitive at the end of the day.

The piercing is also tighter around the ring like a normal piercing should do instead to be loose like before.

I don't just touch it anymore until....a few minutes ago.

Well, the bottom of the piercing was itchy this morning but I didn't take care and when I've crossed my legs a few minutes ago, it hurts so, the result of this is that there is a little quantity of pus back on the bottom but not swelling. I took that off with a q-tips and I put back a bit of Bactroban.

My question is, what's should I do next?
