I am going in for surgery soon, and I was told I have to remove my vertical hood piercing. About how long before it would grow over? I've had it pierced for 14 months, and I have a two day stay in the hospital...

Your piercing is well established and should not give you a problem if you remove it for 2 days.
Good luck with the surgery. If you are unable to insert the ring afterwards, just go to a piercing shop and they should be able to insert it for you.
