My uncle lives in BC, and just recently told me that they use a kind of zinc cream ointment to put on any kind of piercing. He told me that it helps to heal the piercing and treat help infection.
I was just wondering if this is true, and if it is, what kind of cream ointment contains zinc that might be used?
Thanks a bunch!
t is true that zinc does help heal skin problems, but this is more true for skin problems like diaper rash, minor burns and scratches. When it comes to using that type or product on the inside of the piercing, it will create an environment where bacteria will grow and become an infection.
Most of the problems we see with piercings is overcleaning. Cleaning too much for too long will only irritate the delicate tissues trying to heal. Sometimes, after a minor injury to the pierced area will cause the tissues to swell and look like a bump. There is probably fluid inside this bump and if left alone, the body would reabsorb these fluids (like a bruise colour changing).
Our recommendation is to leave the piercing alone.
Hope we have helped.
