Tragus rejection?

about 2 weeks ago I got my tragus and industrial pierced both done with needle clamp. about a week ago my tragus started oozing a sticky orange liquid that hardens around my ear.

i have also noticed the back of my piercing is moving sideways, towards the front and is almost to the crust of the helix. i have been cleaning it a few times a day with bactine and sleep on it because it was less painful than sleeping on my industrial.

i went back to my piercer and he said he's never seen anything like what's happening to my tragus but my industrial is healing fine.  my tragus only hurts when you touch it, and i'm afraid my ear might be rejecting the new piercing.

You told us you were pierced with a needle clamp but not what type of jewellery that was used.  Is the industrial done with a barbell?  What is your complete aftercare for both piercings?

Do you know the gauge of the tragus piercing?

You state that this orange sticky stuff hardens around your ear, since you sleep on that ear, is it possible that its ear wax?  Can you clean out your ear with a Q-tip and see if its the same stuff?

The only other issue is the migration, have you shown this problem to your piercer?  What does he think is going on?  Since we cannot see the piercing and you are unable to come to our shop, we need all the information possible.

Sticky stuff isn't wax. I had the same with both my rook and my lip piercing.

Its just a reaction plain and simple - I get it very severely because of an auto immune disease I suffer from. My piercer had never seen anything like it from both my lip and rook. My entire ear was covered in the stuff.

Best recommendation - don't put anything chemical anywhere near it! Don't touch it. Wash it with warm water and it softens and falls off naturally. Its your body pushing out all the crap that has gathered.

the industrial was done with a 14g barbell, and the tragus was done with a 16g curved barbell.  aftercare for both of my piercings was spraying bactine on them a few times a day (now i know not to, but the pharmacist told us it was the best thing they had).

I do think the orange stuff coming from my ear is earwax.

i showed my piercer once and he had no idea what was going on with my ear, he had never seen anything like it before and recommended that i take the piercing out and clean it.

other people have told me that it looks like my ear is rejecting the piercing because i got 2 piercings done at the same time.

Thanks for the picture and please remove the circular barbell.  You were pierced too close to the edge and since the jewellery is too large for the piercing the weight of it is pulling it even more.  By removing the jewellery now, you elminate the tearing that will occur in your ear.

Now that your piercings are over 2 weeks old, please stop cleaning the industrial.  Overcleaning of this piercing will result in problems.  You may have already irritated them with the Bactine but time will tell how they will do.  When you shower, just let warm water run over the piercings.  Afterwards, take a Q-tip and remove any crusties that may have formed.

For your information, getting more than one piercing at a time does not result in having problems.  Migration is a mechanical process and the weight of the jewellery and the location of the piercing were in combination the problem.

Another suggestion is that after you shower, you take Q-tips and clean inside your ears.  You may have wax build-up and because you slept on the one side all night, you probably had enough time to get the wax out of your ear.
