I got my tragus pierced last Thursday, The healing has been going fine i guess it never really hurt at all or got red. When I first got it done, the curved bar was level, but now the back looks like it's drooping a little. Is that normal? Does it just look that way because my tragus had probably been a little swollen and the the hole was brand new and now it isn't as tight? Or is it migrating already?
A curved bar? Did your piercer put a barbell in or a ring? When I got mine done they put in a ring (isn't a piercing from Black Star). I have had mine for 5 years now and the front sits a little lower then the back does. My piercer said that this was normal and it was all in the way that you had to pierce the area!
I hope this helped!
it's a barbell, but it's slightly curved. Oh ok. For me the back is slightly lower. maybe it's just that the barbell is a little too long because he used one that's slightly over sized to accommodate the swelling.Thank you!
Properly pierced, the tragus should follow a line which is at right angles to the cartilage, to keep the piercing tack as short as possible. With most tragus piercings, this is almost dead level when you are standing and looking straight ahead.
Because the piercing is supported by cartilage, migration is not an issue, even with 16g. jewelry. Proper jewelry is straight (barbell or labret stud) or circular (ring or circular barbell). A curved barbell (bananabell) is not suitable for tragus piercings, although it will do no harm to wear one. The problem is the perspective of the jewelry, leading to comments like the start of this thread. The two ends will never appear to be level.
