I had my tragus done three weeks ago with a needle. I have a 16g ring through it right now. It was healing great until the last 2 days when i think it moved a bit downwards..it even looked different.  I just noticed this 2 days ago, so i dont know if i'm just paranoid and seeing things or if its really migrating.

Should i just leave it as it is or go back to my piercer to make sure? and what are the chances of the tragus migrating?  my piercer sad i had the perfect tragus for the piercing.

Tragus and all cartilage piercings do not migrate as easily as soft tissue ones.  Why because the fibrous tissues are thicker so stablizes the piercing better.

Since we cannot see your piercing it is difficult for us to say if you have a problem or not so we agree with you to return to your piercer and ask him her.

If your piercing is migrating, then all we can suggest is that you get a 14g ring into the piercing as this thicker gauge will help reduce the risk of migration.

It's still the same. But i think it got a bit darker in color, and my friend ran her ugly fingernails right across it today, hurt a lot! Got irritated again.

Its fine now and doesnt hurt, all I do now is gently rinse some water over it in the shower.

If your friend injured your piercing, you may experience a little increase in the bump again.  Do not stress as it is just a reaction to what happened to you.

Keep us informed as it sounds like your piercing is on its way to healing.

the bump went down a tiny bit and sometimes it flares up again, it does look like its on its way to healing.
would changing the ring to a barbell be better?

and i have one other question, is it possible to get a 3mm tunnel throught the lobe in one visit or do i have to stretch it?

If you change the jewellery while you still have a bump, the jewellery will have to be long and that may give it too much leverage.  If the bump is going down, and its not in the way of the jewellery, then yes, change it.

You have to remember that we cannot see your piercing and we are giving you advice upon the words you write.

We have pierced many lobes at 10g or 3.2mm and it was not damaging to the tissues.  As long as you have it done professionally, you should not have any problems.

I had it checked, and its not migrating. Just my imagination so it's all good.

Now theres another problem, i noticed that just above the piercing there's a light red pinkish bump. I think its getting bigger too. It looks like there some fluid inside it.

Is there any way to get rid of it?

Ok, so you confirm that the piercing is not migrating.  Now the issue is the bump, we need to know about your aftercare.

What do you do?  How often and with what products?

Since your piercing is over 3 weeks, PLEASE STOP CLEANING YOUR PIERCING.

The main reason for the bumps is overcleaning.  Your body is trying to heal and you keep irritating it when you clean.  If you want your piercing to heal and the bump to disappear, please just leave it alone.

DO NOT CLEAN IN THE SHOWER EITHER!

You will notice that you may develop some discharge.  If so, put a warm cloth on your piercing for a couple of minutes and then take a Q-tip and remove the crusties.

Other than doing this, please leave it alone.  Write back in about 1 week and let us know the status of your problem.

I've been cleaning it twice a day with sea salt soaks because thats what my piercer told me to do. That was just for the first 2 weeks then i stopped doing anything on it.

The bump is still here and it's getting kind of dry. Kinda looks like a zit or something.

How long does it take for the bump to go away?

i heard from many people that salt soaks help...but i dont wanna risk it.

Salt water soaks do damage to fresh piercings.  As we wrote above, you no longer need to clean or turn the ring.

Just leave it alone and in a few days you may notice that there is puss being expelled from the piercing and that the bump is starting to shrink.  This is good as the body is dealing with the irritation.  This also means that in a few weeks, the bump should dissappear.

If you irritate it more by using some product, then the bump will take longer to dissipate.

Keep in touch with your progress

The bump is still the same, its not growing or shrinking. I went back to my piercer just to check and he said it was hypertrophic scarring or something and recommends this sea salt spray.

i have not been doing anything to it at all, should i keep doing that or is hypertrophic scarring different from the bumps?

You are not moving or doing anything to the piercing and it has not shrunk at all?  Do you sleep on that side possibly?  Something has to be irritating it for the bump not to change at all.

It is not yet a hypertrophic scar yet.  This process takes several months to get to that stage.  At this point, it should be filled with fluid.

Please try and think of anything that you may be doing to irritate your piercing and try and stop doing that thing.

No puss or shrinking happening.  You are not sleeping on it that you know of.

Be patient and wait one more week and let us know the condition of the bump.
