Hey, i just got my tongue pierced 4 days ago and my tongue ring is sinking into my tongue. It has gotten worse day by day and i'm scared it's going to grow over night.
Its level right now with the rest of my tongue and i've just been hoping that the swelliing will go down. I rinse my mouth with listerine about 5 times a day and suck on ice. My problem is that i have been eating solid foods and it hurts when i eat but in order to have energy for my sports i need to eat carbo's.
I don't know what to do and i'm kind of paniking so if anyone knows what to do then that would be great!
Several factors are causing you problems. First, the gauge and the length of the barbell. We do not use 14g as its just too thin and has a greater chance of migrating. The length of the barbell should be 3 4" long and we have found that some places use only 5 8" and this small difference could be the main reason why it appears to be so swollen.
You state that you rinse with listerine but is it full strength or do you water it down? Do you use anything else? We recommend using Extra Strength Midol to help reduce the swelling (no matter what sex you are).
Eating is great exercise and it is correct that you should keep chewing to help dissipate the swelling.
As the first 3 weeks come to an end, you should notice that the swelling is not as bad and the tongue is looking more normal.
