Hi - I got my ears re-pierced a little over a week ago - via needle. Well my left ear lobe has hit by mistake and is now swollen. I use the Provon medicated soap and a salt bath to clean it daily. I'm worried b c my earring back which is a butterfly is half in my swollen ear. Will the swelling go down or do I need to go get my piercing removed? Is there anyway to get the swelling to go down? I'm no getting a lot of puss but I'm freaked out about the swelling and not being able to see half of my earring backing.

The Provon soap is a little strong but we also understand that its commonly used in the UK.  But we would ask you to stop doing the salt water bath as this will only irritate the piercing.  The other concern is that you have studs and not hoops in your ears.  The stud does not accommodate for swelling and the result is that the butterfly is inbeded into the lobe.

The puss is the result of the salt water; it irritates the tissues and puss forms.

If possible please get a pair of hoops in the piercings and stop doing the salt water bath.  The swelling should start going down in a couple of days.
