I got my navel done 11 months ago and before i came on holiday i was going to remove it as i thought it was healing (piercers etc said it could take up to 12 months to heal) but i got advised to do it when i was at home in case there was any troubles then i could go back to the piercer.

So i am on holidays and obviously swimming in the pool and sunbathing - suddenly it is sunburnt - of all the places gets burnt on my bellybutton and around it.

I am trying not to fiddle with it as much - so far so good - but i do need to wash it since its sunburnt it gets stuck and weeps at times.

any suggestions? as i love my piercing and just want a nice tan to go along with it.

should i keep it covered when in the sun etc?  wash it more often in cool water to cool it down etc?

please help

Sorry to read that you got sunburnt.  We do recommend using Aloe gel to help with the healing and pain relief.

From what you write, you still clean your piercing.  If this is true, then please STOP.  If its weeping it could also be from the overcleaning.  The skin is burnt and you should not be doing anything to makes things worse.  You can put a cool compress on the navel to help and a Q-tip if you do get crusties, otherwise, leave it alone.

Is your barbell long for your piercing?  If so, then get a shorter barbell if possible to relieve the leverage and the crusties may reduce as well.

If you are sunburnt, then you should remain out of the sun until your skin heals otherwise, could burn further causing skin damage.

Good luck
