I have lost 60 lbs had a tummy tuck.  Have been wanting a navel piercing for a long time. I have a few tattoos all of which are very special to me.

I am however 52 years of age. Some feel this is too old. Just wondering. I may add, I look and feel better now then when I was younger.

Should I use titanium as I have been told I have a nickle allergy.

Thanks

Congratulations on the weight loss and your youthful look.

We have had many clients over the age of 50 come in for different types of piercings, including the navel.  Age does not matter and you should get it done if this is what you want.

With respect to the type of metal to use, we recommend implant grade surgical stainless steel (316L or 316LVM as some call it).  We would caution you from using titanium because it is a metal that our body does not recognize as a foreign object and it could become a permanent part of your body.

At our shop, our policy is to keep the initial ring in for 6 weeks and then you can switch to a barbell or any other type of jewellery.  This is necessary for the granulation tissue to start forming in the fresh piercing.  After the 6 weeks, you can put in a titanium piece of jewellery if you so desire.

Good luck
