Yes, it can happen.  As this is still fresh, you may notice a little swelling and the screw will stop moving too much and then by the end of the week, it will start moving again.

We do not know what length the shaft of the screw is but it could also be 5 16" length (ask your piercer).  We use 1 4" and we do not see much of that.

Good luck

Will a 1 4 in nose screw stop the nose ring from peeking out of my nose?  It seem that some days I cannot keep it from greeting the world and other days it stays put and is completely comfortable.  Also is there a set way to wear a nose screw, positioning wise or is it just whatever is comfortable?  I didn't get my nose peirced with a nose screw (labret stud) and have only been wearing the screw for a week or so.  It has been a bit of an adjustment especially with the spinning issue.

Also, do you by chance know what the mm equivalent to 1 4 is?  I notice that most sellers will list their item as a wearable lenght of 7mm, 6mm, or the smallest of 5mm and 7mm seems to be the standard.

Thanks for your patience and help.

If your piercing is only a week old, then you should wait until about 4-6 weeks before getting another screw inserted.  Your tissues will be tender and any irritation may cause more problems.

Most manufacturers deal with even numbers not odd numbers. So, the 1 4" is the equivalent to 6mm.  Hope this helps.  We pierce using the 6mm length and we have found it to be a good size for most noses.

Generally we adjust the screw for clients who have similar problems but we wait until its about 4-6 weeks old to reduce irritating it.  What we have told clients is to use your thumb and finger (like you are pinching your nose) and using the thumb push the screw up into your nose.

Its difficult even with an adjustment to keep the screw from moving.  Why, because your face moves when you talk or make faces.  So either you will keep a straight face or as we recommend, push up your screw when it comes down.

Good luck
