I started a new thread because this is a whole new topic.
I saw a piercer today to have him look at my piercing. He looked in my nose and said that first of all, the stud didn't fit properly, and that it was turned the wrong way (that probably happend when I was blowing my nose so much a month ago). He said that he could put in something that fit correctly and my problem could be resolved.
Then, on closer examination he said the the skin tissue on the inside of my nose was growing over the screw part and it was in really bad shape and no wonder I was having so many problems. He said it was EXTREMELY irritated. So he said he didn't think that we should replace it with anything, but that it should just be taken out and allowed to heal.
So that 's what he did and it hurt really bad and of course swelled up very bad, but now, only 3 hours later, it seems to be calming down and the bump (which was horrifyingly huge and bright red) has already shrunk. This is encouraging. I'm going to let it alone and let it heal.
He asked me if I wanted him to pierce the other side of my nose since I was losing this piercing. (Btw, this is not the same piercer that did my last piercing) I was very apprehensive after the ordeal I've been through and the current state of my nose, but I did it becuase I really didn't want to part with my nose ring in the first place. But I didn't tell my mom cuz she would think I was crazy.
Of course the piercer told me to do salt soaks, gave me H2-ocean, and some other cleanser, which I'm not going to do. I didn't tell him I wasn't going to use those products, but I did ask him, "Have you ever had clients who's pierceings get irritated because of those products?" And he said that irritation comes from using the incorrect proprotions when mixing the salt water, and though he did give me lots of cleaning instructions, told me not to OVER clean it. He sang the praises of H2-ocean, but from the advice here, I know I shouldn't use it.
UGGG. So much conflicting advice...He swears that the salt water is the best for healing a piercing, and that he's been piercing for years.
He was very convincing. But because of this forum, I'm not going to do ANYTHING to my new piercing.
Just to be sure...I'm just to wash my face like normal, being careful not to get any face wash in on the piercing...and just ignore it...right??? I made so many mistakes the first time I got pierced I don't want the same situation, so well see how it goes!
And as far as the old piercing wound...should I totally leave it alone??? It has been severly tramatized as you can imagine, the piercer had a hard time taking it out. I did a warm compress a little while ago in the hopes that it will help it drain. Is that ok to do?
Thanks for your help.
Sorry to read that you removed your piercing but you made that decision based on a piercer looking at it; this forum is unable to provide that type of assistance.
Glad that you got the other side pierced and that you are not going to follow his aftercare. We do understand about the conflicting advice and care that is available. Just leave it alone and wash your face as you normally would.
We understand the properties of salt water and what its used for in different processes, and we know that it dries out the tissues (think about salting fish or beef) its not moist is it! What do you think it does to your skin?
For the one that you removed, just leave it alone. The body will now do the rest. If you have seen a noticeable difference, then it should not take long for it to disappear.
Thanks for getting back to me and reassuring me that I should leave my new piercing alone. I'm totally convinced that's what I should do, but it's a little scary when everybody else swears I'll get an infection if I don't do all that crazy cleaning stuff to my piercing!
I got pierced 5 days ago and I'm doing nothing but rinsing it off with warm water in the shower. So far no problems. Though the skin is a little red around the pierce still, I hope that's ok, I assume it's because it's still so new. When should that go away?? I'm kind of paranoid about this piercing because of the problems i had with my last one...when will I be out of the woods?? I REALLY want this piercing to work out.
As far as my OTHER pierce that is healing....I'm so suprised and happy about how quickly it's healing. It's barely noticeable now, and it's only been a few days since I got that sucker yanked out of my face. I don't know how it's possible that it's healing so fast, but it looks dramatically better every day. Whew!! I ignored all the advice my piercer gave me about putting stuff on it to "help it heal", and it's doing really well.
Thanks for the help and I will spread to word to the world to use the LITHA method (leave it the hell alone!)
Glad to read that your piercing is doing well and that the bump is going away from the other side.
Take care
