redness

I got my eyebrow done over a week ago. I clean it 2-3 times a day with Dial soap and a cotton ball. I rub the piercing with soap until it lathers and clean it off.

I've noticed the bottom of the piercing is turning red. Not the hole, but the skin directly under it until about my eyelid.

Is this normal? Am I over cleaning?

YES!  You are overcleaning.  Please look at our aftercare section for our philosophy.

Aftercare is only to kickstart the body to healing itself.  Overcleaning will irritate the tissues and this is why you are experiencing the redness.

Please STOP cleaning the piercing.  If you continue you will develop more problems later on.  From what you are describing as to the method, the lather should be rubbed into the hands first and then applied to the piercing.  So you are also possibly getting too much soap into the piercing.

By the way, I had them put a barbell in at first, because I can't have rings at school.

Could redness be because it's too small?

It itches a lot too.

The redness can be caused by overcleaning, incorrect jewellery and injury.

The ball seems to be putting unnecessary pressure on the tissues above and or below the piercing.  They may also be a little too large or heavy and this can also be a factor.

Leave the piercing alone and write back in a week with your status.
