Re-piercing after rejection??

Tagged:

I got my belly pierced just over a month ago, and two days ago it got rejected from my skin. So it like ripped the skin and fell out of the hole. But I didn't feel when it fell out; I just noticed later that it did. I think I know why it was rejected as well, because I was over cleaning it and using salt water. I only found out this is bad after it fell out.

So now I have two bumps above my belly button, where the skin was joined, but it’s not anymore. These bumps are red, but it doesn't hurt when I touch them. I went to the doctor with my mum, and they said that they would go away and flatten out eventually, but will leave a scar. Is there any way that I can make the healing process quicker and leave less of a scar?

Also, when these bumps go away is it possible to get my belly re-pierced? The doctor said that I shouldn't get it re-pierced, but from other posts on the forum that I've read, it does seem possible. Also from looking at the previous place where it was pierced it looks quite shallow, so can I get it pierced underneath the previous piercing site? And how long would you recommend waiting before getting it re-pierced if it’s possible to?

Also I really like your site and wish I had found it sooner!! And thanks for taking your time to answer my questions :)

Follow your doctor's advice. Be patient and let your body heal. To minimize scarring, you can use a little moisturizer with Vitamin E, but don't use it more frequently than once per week.

Yes you can get your navel re-pierced, but let the wound heal completely first. When you do get it re-pierced, remember that nothing you do will heal your piercing. It will heal on its own, and you have nothing to do with that process. Protect it during the initial period by keeping it clean, remembering that every time you clean you do damage as well. The less you have to do to take care of your piercing, the less damage you will do, and the faster it will heal.

Good Luck.
