Now I know that I'm probably being over anxious about this, as it happens to be a very important area for anyone getting it done.
But, my first concern is just how strong is the tissue that the piercing goes though? I've had mine about a month, I was pierced with a 14g, but that was too thin, and after a couple of weeks I had to move it up to a 12, since I am uncircumcised, the thin ring was being pushed upwards, I already have a sort of split in the urethra where there was a little webbing of skin, that's gone, the ring cut through it, and I can't see how that's a HUGE problem anyway, it was bound to happen whatever size ring I had.
I want to move up to a 10g ring, and just want to know when this will be completely safe, I understand that replacing the jewellery with something thicker so early in the healing period was inadvisable, but it was starting to move too much and irritate me, the slight pressure of my foreskin when folded back over the ring was pushing it against the "top" of the urethral opening, and this stung and would very slightly bleed occasionally. The thicker ring has helped this somewhat, but I think the 10g will be best suited.
My final worry is that while I can't remember exactly where the original entry hole was, I don't THINK it has moved at all, and I can't see evidence of scar tissue left behind if it had, but the ring feels "closer" to the front of the head than it did early on, is this just because the swelling has subsided?
I don't exactly want to TUG on the ring, but I'd like to be able to know whether I have to use kid gloves around there, and for how much longer?
Upgauging to 10g is not a bad idea, just make sure that the ring is sized properly for your piercing. If the ring is too large in diameter, this could also cause problems for you. The tissue in the penis is very strong and very flexible.
With respect to genital piercings, they are the fastest healing of all piercings. Since your piercing has migrated somewhat and caused the type of damage you write about, then you should have no problem going to a 10g. If the ring is not where it was first placed, then your piercing probably migrated a little bit.
Since this piercing is so fast healing, you may not find any scar tissue.
