I don't know if I really have a problem, because I get paranoid about these things.
I have had my vertical hood piercing for almost 5 weeks (5 weeks on Friday) and it was going great and fine. 4 days ago, I felt like it was a little sensitive and maybe slightly swollen, and that condition hasn't changed. I am having trouble figuring out what is going on, because the hole doesn't *look* bad, there are no puss or bumps, it doesn't hurt when I move it, I think it is irritated a bit and slightly puffy. But something sort of stings. It doesn't hurt really, but stinging is the best word I can give to describe it. But I don't think it's the hole of the piercing that stings. I can't get a really good look at it however, b c in order to do so involves a lot of prodding and moving it around, which just irritates it more.
I just want to know if it sounds like just cleaning it and leaving it alone will help, or if it sounds like something else could be a factor. (I read that having too long of jewelry could be a problem, and my bar does stick out from the bottom of my hood a bit...) I am also a very active person; I exercise nearly every day and am an actor so I move around a lot. I have not had sex since the piercing, and I think I have a 12 g curved barbell. Thanks.
This type of situation will require you to return to your piercer so that they can see it and determine what is the problem.
At 5 weeks, you should not be cleaning or moving it. Being active may irritate it so getting a good fitting barbell may be something to discuss with the piercer.
