I just had my nipples pierced a month ago. They are pierced with barbells. I've been soaking my piercings twice a day for 7-10 minutes with a distilled water sea salt solution as noted in my aftercare sheet.
Everything has been going fine. After the first week, I had no more blood crusties. I still get some white crusties but not as much as at first.
Then last night, when I was cleaning crusties off after soaking, I noticed a small bump. Its located on the edge of the hole next the ball of the barbell. Its hard to tell if it's just skin or a bump that looks a little like a pimple coming to a head. All I know is the edge of the hole has changed somewhat because of this tiny bump.
Besides that, they've been fine. I just recently started going to bed without a bra and just a tee-shirt. I have no pain or itchiness.
Any idea on what the bump might be? Should I just continue to soak it? I want to keep them and I'll do whatever I need to do so that can happen.
thank you!
The aftercare is too harsh and you have irritated the piercings. Please stop doing the soaks and leave them alone so that body can heal itself.
In the shower, just let the water run over them and afterwards, take a Q-tip and remove any crusties that may have formed. If you notice the area looking dry or chapped, then take another Q-tip and apply a water based moisturizer and rub into the tissues (not the piercing) until absorbed.
