piercing after tummy tuck

Hi I had a tummy tuck a little over 5 months ago and had a navel piercing done 4 weeks ago. Do you know if my chances of migration are any higher than a person withouth a tummy tuck.
My old belly button (pre tummy tuck) was pierced for over 3 years with no problem. I don't know if that helps.
If it did migrate then what symptoms would I be looking for?
Thanks

Migration is a mechanical process so if you are overcleaning or moving the jewellery excessively, then you have a risk of migration.  If you do not clean or move your piercing anymore, then you should not be worried.

Symptoms are the barbell getting longer and the skin getting less and eventually you can see through the skin to see the barbell.  At this point, you might as well remove the jewellery.

Thanks for your reply back. I've stopped using the sea salt spray a month ago but my piercing never seems to be fully healed. There's always some pinkish redness at the bottom hole with a little puffiness. Once in a  while I'll but some bacitracin ointment and then it helps it but I don't know why it's been like this. It's been since mid December since the piercing.
That's why I was asking about any connection between a new fabricated belly button, which is done during a tummy tuck, and higher migration rates. I do notice that the bottom hole was pierced right through the scar line because theres a round belly button scar.
Have you done any piercings on new belly buttons.
Should I do anything when the belly button acts up again.
Thanks

You do not inform us of what type of jewellery you have inserted in your navel.  If its a ring, then you may want to switch it to a barbell as fitted as possible to reduce the movement.

If you have a barbell, water may get trapped inside the navel and cause problems (bacteria).  So what we are suggesting is that you eat some yoghurt about 2-3 times a day for 5 days.  When you shower, take a Q-tip and clean inside the navel to remove any fluid trapped inside.

Do you sleep on your tummy?  Do not use the bacitracin anymore as this may create an environment where bacteria could thrive.  Do warm water compress in the evening for about 10 minutes for a couple of days and let see what happens in a week.

Ok, will do. I fortunately love yogurt so that won't be hard to do.
I was pierced with a barbell and the barbell, I think, is too long because because my skin only covers a little over the length of the barbell. Think I may go in to get it fitted to a shorter one.
Thanks for the info and I'll keep you posted.
