I have had my eyebrow pierced for a week. i used salt water solution for about 4 or 5 days after getting it pierced and am currently cleaning it with dial antibacterial soap everyday.

It is starting to itch around the piercing and is sore sometimes.  is this a bad sign and what should i or can i do about it?

Thanks in advance fot your help.

Please STOP using salt water on your piercing.  Please go to blackstar aftercare section and start to follow our aftercare.  You should be starting to cut down the cleanings so that by the end of the second week, you will no longer be cleaning your piercing.

Anymore than that, you are overcleaning and will give you problems.

Itchiness is a sign of healing but if its sore, then you are hurting the piercing, probably because of the amount of movement you are doing to the jewellery.  As well, if you have a barbell and not a ring, it could be more sore when cleaning.

Keep in touch.

i have cut down on the cleaning so that today will be my last day of cleaning it, and i do have a barbell instead of a ring and it does get more soar when i clean it, i think because there is not much room to move it to get the soap out because the barbell is just the right length ... thanks for tha advice!

Yes, the barbell will be more difficult to clean.  Leave it alone and the swelling should dissipate better.  If you notice crusties, then place a warm cloth on top of the piercing until they soften.  Take a Q-tip and remove them, without moving the barbell.  Then if the piercing looks dry or chapped, take another Q-tip and a moisturizer (we use St Ives) and rub into the tissues (NOT PIERCING) until absorbed.

Good luck
