I got my piercing done 5 weeks ago and in about 2 weeks plan to get it out and get new jewelery put in.
I just want to know because my piercing fell out the first time I got it done. this one has been doing better but is it common for the piercing to shrink a little bit after lets say the 2nd week after it is done.
I mean my piercing is great but it is a little smaller thanks for the help!
What you are describing is migration and it can occur in any piercing, but we have noticed a greater risk with the eyebrow.
Why, part is because of the aftercare. Its too aggressive and harsh and this breaks down the tissues in front of the piercing and the weight of the ring is unable to be maintained and therefore the ring just falls out.
If you are still cleaning the piercing, then please STOP. Do not do anything else to your piercing. Aftercare should only be 2 weeks long and then you should let the body do the rest.
If you started with a barbell and its 16 gauge, then the moving up and down of the barbell will cause the breakdown of the tissues.
There can be some shrinkage because the initial piercing causes swelling and as the swelling dissipates, the piercing appears to have shrunk. As long as it is no longer shinking then there is no problem.
If on the other hand, you are noticing the piercing has less tissues inbetween the holes then it is starting to migrate again. If you want our assistance you will need to tell us what you do on a daily basis to your piercing.
