i got my nose pierced on sunday and except for swellling when i first got it done my nose has been fine, but there is still a little bit of pinkness on the outside. it is no longer tender. i got my nose done by a professional piercer with a needle and have a nose screw.

i know from expeiance that bactine is so harsh to so i ignored my piercer's advice and used spectro gel (a gentle non-irritating face cleanser) which is what my friend used. i wanted to know if the pinkish hue on the outside is normal or is it the cleanser that is causing it?

I think you'll have some red pinkness for awhile still. I mean it's basically a hole in your body and your body is trying to fix it.

With injuries the redness is from the blood rushing to the site to try and get healing properties there. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just take care of it for now.

At our shop, we tell our clients to use the same cleanser they used before the piercing as there is no aftercare for this piericng.

If you irritate this piercing, it will increase your chance of having problems.

Spectro gel is a cleanser that has no soap in it; for those who are allergic to regular soap.  If you did not use it before the piercing it may irritate your skin and therefore your piercing.

Please just use the cleanser you used before and do not pay any special attention to the piercing.  Redness is normal part of healing but as you are using a new cleanser, this could also be causing you additional redness.

anyway, the redness did eventually disapear and everything was looking good and nice but i couldn't help play with it.  i know i know bad idea, and guess what happened, you know it, the bump appeared.

it is small enough thats its not noticable so thats ok but i still want it gone and want a healthy piercing.

my question is whether or not, not cleaning the piercing will cause it to be infected.  i'm having a hard time leaving it alone.  she told me to clean it regardless.  it is right there afterall, but i am going to stop touching it and playing with it.

please help, i had a cute nose before the piercing was red and bumpy looking.  i want to nip it in the bud before it gets bigger.  other friend has her helix pierced and she has a bump.  i passed on your advice, but still her bump is massive and pusses and is purple and nasty.  i don't want this to happen to me.

p.s my bump is red and blood filled. can you please give me a little more information on the length it will take for the bump to subside.  mine is kind of small although i don't really know how big they get.  it is on the outside of the hole just above it.  i hate it and am really concerned.

i havent had a good track record when it comes to healing.  i have had my belly button pierced twice and neither healed properly.  i now know it was because i was using too harsh products.  i am still concerned about how well my piercing will heal as it is in the center of my face!  i am pretty impatient but i guess i should just get some patience.

I was the same as you. I can tell you I'm still battling with my bump 3 months later. There is no time as to when the bump will go away.  I'm sorry to tell you, it depends on each individual.

Yeah just to second that DONT DO ANYTHING to it.  It will heal a lot faster that way.

To alliebear_jc

To clarify some issue about cleaning.  We are telling you not to specifically clean the piercing, but we do expect you to clean your face as you would normally do had you not had the piercing.  If you just wash your face, the piercing will get cleaned as well.

You have been irritating the piercing by playing with it as you inform us its filled with blood.  Please do your best not to play with it.  We are curious, exactly what type of playing are you doing to cause such bleeding?

To help calm down the bump, we recommend doing warm water compress for about 10 minutes a day and then remove any crusties formed with a Q-tip.  This may even help pop the bump and give you some relief.  But we strongly insist that you do not pop the bump yourself, let the body do it.

Once the bump disappears, your nose will look cute again.  You just have to develop patience.

Keep in touch.

never mind, the blood turn out to be a scratch.  it must of have gotten hit or something but thats kind of flaked off... its all fesh coloured now.

i am not playing with it any longer and will try my hardest from getting angry and just taking the thing out.

thanks for the advice, you have calmed my anxieties a little i'm a still a little self conscious but i guess i will have to hide it somehow or just turn the other way when people talk.

will keep you updated and thanks again for the speedy reply much appreciated.

We know its not easy, but in a few days, you should start to really see a difference.

You do have to be patient.

Take care
