Today, I went to get my nape done. My mom is pretty against most piercings. Basically, she thinks when people see me, they will think she is a bad mother if I have a lot of piercings on my face. She is all for piercings that can be hidden though. So I asked if I could get this done. Right away, she said yes. I was so surprised. So I called a piercing parlor, and asked them when their piercer was available, and about prices. I went today, and their piercer wasn't there! So I wait about 20 minutes( they said he'd be back in less than an hour) and finally he comes back. I told him what I want, and he said that he doesn't do nape piercings on minors. He said they can't take care of them well, and he said he doesn't like to do them on people without a lot of piercings either. He said he'd do it if I REALLY wanted it though. Well, I'm 16 about to be 17, and I used to have 14 piercings, I just took most of them out because they were to boring for me. Now, all I have is my tongue, belly button, and conch. I was wondering if I should try another parlor, or if he's right?
The problem with nape piercings is they are at a higher risk of migration than the other piercings.
You also cannot see it and depending on the type of jewellery they use, it will be difficult to clean.
If you do not have much flesh in that area it will also have a greater chance of migrating so its something that you really want to think about. You should return and talk to him again and have him attempt to take some skin and see how much he gets. If its not much or its too thin, you may change your mind.
