My bump expierence

I am SO thankful to find this forum. I too got the "bump" and really abused it until I found this place and followed the advice as to which is LEAVE IT ALONE.

I soaked it, poked it, H2O-ed it, all of that for a month after getting the bump until I completely stopped all of that after reading this forum. When I finally left it alone, the bump popped all on it's own (it took about a week) and now there is a teeny tiny bump still there, but that's because it's still healing. A little bump (only noticed by me) comes and goes with irritations or colds, but that should all go away within a year, after the skin has finally healed.

This is my second nose piercing. When I had it before, I got the "bump"(for about two months before taking it out) and removed the piercing and the bump that was there took about a month to go away. But when it did it was completely gone. So, from my expierence, the bump, although it takes awhile, does not stay after removal of stud.

The best advice is in this forum. You have the bump now, the more you do anything to it the more you keep it angry and irritated at you and WILL NOT go away with being bugged that much. You have to stop touching, sea salt soaking, tea tree oiling and messing with it. It can and will go away. Good luck!

Hey, thanks.  I was wondering...when your bump popped on it's own (mine did too)  did it shrink all the way down to the teeny bump immeditatly or did that happen gradually?

When mine finally popped (it was huge) it shrunk to about half the size that it was, and has stayed the same size, until this afternoon.  Then the top later peeled off, and there was a fluid filled bump underneath which this afternoon oozed a little through the pierce.  I don't know if that was pus or what since my bump does not look like a whitehead at all - just red.  The good thing was that after it oozed, the bump shrunk.  I'm thinking that's good, but I don't think oozing is necesarrily good, so we'll see if it grows again.

My bump went down drastically within that first day to the teeny tiny bump. It wasn't gradually.  And it is still pussing because it's still healing and this piercing takes a long time to heal.

Your bump oozing sounds like a good thing, and, also, its still got a long ways to go to heal the actual piercing.  Just make sure you don't peel or pick at the layers because that will also irritate it.  All it takes is a little bit of irritation to make it a big angry bump again. It may look gross, but after a few days of steamy showers, the layers should fall off on its own.

Hopefully you will notice a difference in a few days since it's still oozing and the bump should be smaller.

Thanks for the encouragement!
When I got up this morning and looked in the mirror, my bump seems smaller and flatter than it's been since this ordeal began....yay!  I'm crossing my fingers!!  And being SO careful with it.  It's small enough now that it wouldn't be very noticeable if it wasn't so red...but unfortunately, it's still very red, I hope that will fade down to a normal skin color soon.

Thanks for your help!

Glad to read that you have similar experiences as it is supportive and shows each other than good results can be attained with patience.

The oozing issue is something that is happening as the skin is thinning and the pressure releases it.  We have seen this happen in some clients, generally we would prefer that the body reabsorb it but as long as the bump is going away; we are happy.

The redness is because its still irritated.  Try the warm water compress and hopefully that helps.
