First off i'd like to start off by saying i'm glad i found this forum. Its always great to have a helping forum, i wish i thought of this sooner lol. i did search and found some answers but i figured i'd post a thread just to double check.
I got my nipples pierced actually exactly 3 months ago from today lol. Since I got them pierced i'd say they were healing considerably good. Had some puss bubbles, crusties and soreness along the way of course. About 2-3 weeks ago i went jumping off some cliffs into water and holding my nipples when doing it so my rings wouldn't rip out. My left nipple was sore and started to puss again but was only for a few days(seems to be fine now).
now my right nipple is STILL sore, minimal puss (was alot first week after i did that) and its still sore. but my concern is that i developed a lump cyst directly behind that nipple.
i wanna say its almost the size of a marble probably. its been there for like 3-4 days now and my nipple is still sore and tender. I have been cleaning it in the shower by running the hot water over it and washing away the puss. also squeezing it a lil bit to try to get more out (which i have read thats a big no no, so i wont do that anymore) and using antibacterial soap just to cleanse it when im in there.
everyone keeps telling me to take them out but i really didnt go through all that pain and healing to just take them out 3 months later. I had a small lump behind it a few weeks after i got it done but it went away. seems like since i hurt it bad jumping from the cliffs its back and still hurts.
is this something i should be worrying about? Ive been picking the crusties off and stuff and moving the bar a little to get some more puss out.
thanks for the help!
Update:
Still extremely sore this morning and wicked swollen. i was forced to take the piercing out. When I took it out a whitish greenish puss oozed out. then followed by a little bit of yellowish greenish ooze with blood in it.
so im leaving it out. i think the only thing to heal it would have been some antibiotics. hopefully it will heal without the piercing and antibiotics. now im extremely sad.
i think i will leave the right one in and when this heals get it re-pierced in a few months. I still have a big lump.
Update:
so i talked to my piercer and he said it would have been a good idea to have left it in so i could turn it to get the puss out and relieve the pressure.
after the holes sealed the pressure kept building and it was killing me today. so after 12 hours of keeping the ring out, i decided to shove it back in and it hurt real bad.
I think im going to go see my doctor tomorrow to see if i can get some penicillin perhaps. anyone ever have this problem? nipple is still swollen, whole areola and behind it, is hard.
any thoughts on this?
We are sorry that you have had a problem with your piercings. You did not get into detail about what your aftercare was is. But you tell give us an indication that you still cleaned the piercings. This is overcleaning and this could be part of the problem.
Where you were cliff diving, was it fresh water or salt water? If it was fresh water, then you could have picked up some bacteria while in the water. You did get an infection! The green colour puss discharge was the indicator, did it smell a little sour for a few days? You will have to get some type of antibiotic from your doctor for this to go away.
You have been irritating your piercing for a few months from your description. Part of the crusties are also formed from lactation and would have just needed a little warm water compress and a Q-tip to remove them.
Your piercer was correct in telling you to leave the jewellery in place. The jewellery actually gives the puss a way of being expelled from the body. When you removed the jewellery, you trapped the puss inside. We would have suggested going to the piercer to have him reinsert the jewellery instead of you doing more damage to the already infected piercing.
Please do NOT squeeze the nipple, the body will do its job of expelling the puss. The more you bother and irritate, the longer it will take before the piercing can heal itself.
Keep in touch
well bad news, i was in so much pain it wasnt even funny and i think it was because i shoved the thing back in. so my girl forced me to go to the ER at 4am cause it was so bad.
i couldnt sleep. having it in didnt let any puss come out, it was still trapped. and of course the doc said to take it out and i know i shouldnt have but i wanted the pain to go away.
so now, its all trapped in there and cant get out so i do not what to do now! this sucks so bad.
it was fresh water, so yes thats probably why it was infected. now im on antibiotics, ibuprofin and vicotin. i have to keep hot compresses on it 4 times a day.
the swelling went down a bit but my nipple is still hard as a rock and sore. i didnt want to take it out but the doc insisted it definitely would not get better if didnt take it out.
then i had to listen to the girlfriend complain about it, so i just took it out and as soon as it took it out lots of redish greenish brownish, little smelly puss came out. now the holes are closed i think and all this shit is stll in there i want to go get it drained or something.
Sometimes doctor's forget their first year of medical school. The barbell would have given the puss a way out of the body. But please do NOT stress as this will only make matters worse.
Since you are antibiotics and doing hot compresses, this should help to bring any puss to the surface. We cannot explain why when the barbell was in place that you did not have any discharge as this is normally what would happen. All we can say is that you made a decision based on how you were feeling and what your doctor was telling you.
The piercing may have closed we cannot say for certain but if you start to see some type of discharge, then the piercing may still be open somewhat.
Use the antibiotics properly as this will help clear it up thoroughly. Keep in touch with your progress.
