What you need to do:
1. Rinse with the Original (yellow) Listerine at full strength for 30 seconds 4-5 times a day.
2. Avoid using too much Listerine as you can chemically burn your mouth.
3. You should be back to regular dental hygiene at the end of 7 days. If you continue rinsing with the Original Listerine at the same rate, you can develop an overgrowth infection of Candidiasis (yeast) and develop Thrush.
4. During the first 2-3 days, a white film may form at either end of your piercing. This is a Sub-Lingual Epithelia. It is normal part of the healing process and should not be removed.
Nutrition:
Eating properly is extremely important when healing any piercing. The first sign of malnutrition is a swollen tongue, which also affects the lingual frenulum. Eat normally, taking smaller bites and chewing carefully.
Key Points:
1. In any piercing, peak swelling occurs over day 3 and day 4, so expect it to be a little tender.
2. Keep your mouth cold on the first day can help with the initial swelling. Freezies, slushies, and popsicles are perfect.
3. Try not to irritate your new piercing by playing with it or picking at it.
