I got a Vertical Hood Piercing about a week ago, everything about the healing process has gone great so far my only concern is that I think the bar itself is to short.

When I look at the jewellery the bottom ball is almost completly hidden, Is this normal? It was pierced with a 14G I think.

Thanks!

We pierce the hood with a ring first and then at 6 weeks we can change the jewellery to a barbell.

Why because there is swelling in all fresh piercings and the possible reason why you cannot see the ball is because of the amount of swelling you have.

Peak swelling is on day 3.  You have to move the barbell to clean the piercing, you are applying additional irritation and this will result in increased swelling and possibly a longer time for the swelling to completely dissipate.

Please stop doing all cleaning as our aftercare is only 7 days long for this piercing and overcleaning is another reason for additional swelling.  At this point, you should just be leaving the piercing alone and letting the body do the healing.
