Just a little worried

Hi! I'm totally new here, but I've been reading the posts for a few weeks now after finding this site through a search... My story is similar to so many others:  nose was pierced, got ripped out by accident, and then there was the bump, ect.  I have been doing warm water compresses (w a cotton ball), and I was trying to be patient, but it was three months of me having this thing on my face when I tried to pop it w a safety pin (Stupid, I know!).  It bled for forever!  That was a few days ago.  I still do the compresses every day before I go to bed, and I still get the crusties, however, the bump has gotten really dark.  I'm afraid because I am a woman of color, and I know that I'm more prone to keloids.  This worries me.  All of my friends have commented on how its gotten darker, and to be honest, I'm more than a little worried.  Should I be?  Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!

(And sorry for writing a whole book!)  :P

Popping the bump for you was not a good decision.

How old is the piercing?  How long have you had the bump before you popped it?  Have you had a keloid?

The more information you can send us the better we can assist.

I have had the piercing since October (2006), and the bump came in November.  I had the bump for almost three months when I tried to pop it.  I do, in fact have a keloid on my knee (from a childhood accident).  That's why I'm so worried.  I just recently saw a doctor, and to be honest she wasn't very helpful.  She said it could be scar tissue, irritation or a weird reaction to the metal, and she told me to change my jewelry to acrylic.  But I don't want to do that because I know it will irritate the bump even more.

I am still getting the flakies and crusties, so I am at least a little bit hopeful that there is a chance of this thing someday going away.  However, I have had this bump for nearly four months, and I'm afraid that it may be too late!

Do not worry, as long as you get crusties and flakes your bump has fluid inside and that means that it will go away.

You are not allergic to the metal as contact dermititus is specific and you would have had problems from about the second day after getting the piercing.

Just leave it alone other than removing the crusties.
