I got my nose peirced about 2 months ago and  it was fine for the first month. then i started irratating it and the bump appeared and then kept getting worse, the more poked and moved it around.

I know what i was doing was stupid but i couldnt help it.  then everyone i knew was like you can change it or come on i took mine out and it was fine and i started to wonder what the hole looked like and stuff so tonight i was stupid enough to actually take it out!

I couldnt beleive how hard it was to twist back in i took like an hour getting it back in my nose.  it was bleeding and i might have actually popped the bump while putting it back in.  i used peroxide to clean the stud because it fell on the floor.  im not sure if that was a good idea.

I hope i didnt damage the tissue too much and was wondering if i should just remove the stud completely or if i should do something for it other than leave it alone.   i really dont want too lose my piercing and have to get it re-done.

Right now the bump is big redish-purple and the inside of my nose is swollen.  i cant go back to the piercers because i got it pierced at the blackstar and now i just moved to BC!

I dont know what to do, please help!

We wish that you wrote to us before you did all that damage and we might have saved you some discomfort.

Right now, we recommend leaving it alone.  You have irritated it and possibly done some damage to the tissues.  Can you see the screw inside your nose?  This is important because sometimes when inserting in this type of situation, you get inbetween the layers and if you can see the screw inside your nostril, then you are fine.  If you cannot, then you have a problem and we recommend going to a piercing shop and let them take a better look.

Cleaning the dropped jewellery was a good idea as there may have been some bacteria and you did not need any further problems.

Let us know about the jewellery inside your nose.

my piercing is so much better hehe thanx for your advice!  i was afraid it would NEVER heal after all that.

its absolutely fine now and theres not even a bump!  i was wondering since salt water soaks aren't a good idea should i not swim in salt water (the ocean) or is it different than the soaks all together?

let me know
thanx soo much!

It is different.  The concentration is not the same and unless you are completely keeping your head under water, you should not have a problem with the ocean.

Once the bump is completely gone and the healing on its way, the body can deal with the ocean water.

Take care and we are very happy that your piercing is doing better.

Well, we have heard that many times and even a slight bump to the area can be enough to cause the bump to form again.

Just be patient and it will subside again.  You may have hit it while you were sleeping.

A keloid is a special type of scar which results in an overgrowth of tissue at the site of a healed skin injury. Keloids are firm, rubbery lesions or shiny, fibrous nodules and can vary from pink to flesh-colored or red to dark brown in color. A keloid is benign, noncontagious and usually painless, but they can be a cosmetic problem.  It also takes several months to fully form, until that time it is fluid filled and it can shrink and completely go away.

When we give advice it is general advice because we cannot see the piercing and we are working with the words to assist us in helping you.

For most people when you pop a pimple, it generally comes back.  So this is the advice we give.  You may be lucky but we have received this reaction and then several days later, the bump returns.  If the body popped the pimple on its own, then it was the body's way of getting rid of the problem, not yours.

The best thing to do is to leave it alone.
