I have a puss bubble...

I got my nipples done about 2 months ago, I cleaned them with bactine for about 3 weeks once every day. They're 14g barbells. I dont really clean them anymore, I just let the water run on them and maybe once a week rub a little soap on them.

I've had the crusties which seem to be pretty normal in nipple piercings, and I just scratch them off the bar when they get excessive sometimes. I recently developed a puss bubble on my right nipple and I popped it with a needle and now its scabbed and red bubble.

My question was could I be causing scar tissue and would it effect the look of my nipple and what EXACTLY causes a puss bubble to develop anyways? Whats happening now with the redness and bubble, is that normal and will it go away?

Should I use a compress for the red bump or just let it heal and run hot water on it in the shower? Could my period be the reason why it developed this problem? Thanks

Your first problem is, is that you've been using bactine. The manufacturer actually states on their website that Bactine is not recommended for any piercing.  So you irritated your piercings for a few weeks and now your body has finally responded to all the irritation.

The bump is not caused by your periods, its caused by the products you used at the beginning of your aftercare.  Since you poped the bump, you may have received temporary relief, but the irritation has not been resolved and therefore it could either resurface again or take an exceptionally long time to dissipate.

We recommend leaving it alone and just letting warm water run over the piercings.  Are the barbell balls near the bump?  Does the barbell fit properly or do you see some of the barbell?  If you can see barbell, then getting a better fitting barbell may help in reducing some of the irritation (the moving barbell could be part of the problem).

Keep in touch with your progress
