Im new at this and was wondering whether i could have some help please?

Ive had my nose pierced for nearli two months now and for the past 2-3 weeks i have been noticing a bump forming around the stud when i first had it pierced it was with a gun, a few weeks later i then changed it to a curly stud made for the nose.

At first it was fine and now this bump has formed. I left it for a while cleaning it regularly with savlon antisceptic wound wash. My mom then thought that it was best to take the stud out which i was really unhappy about and disappointed.

However, i only took my stood out yesturday and i really want to put it back in, it is begininng to go down. I don't know whether to leave my nose and get it re pierced at a later date or can i put it back in?

Can i have some advice as soon as possible please? i would really appreciate it

The main problem you had was the you were cleaning it with a harsh product and irritating the piercing.  The bump is the body's way of telling you that its irritated.  At our shop, there is NO aftercare for the nostril piercing.

By removing it, you have probably lost the piercing.  The reason why the bump is shrinking is that you are no longer irritating it.  The body will reabsorb the fluid inside the bump and your nose would have been normal soon, without having to remove the jewellery.

Try and insert something straight in your nose to see if the piercing is still there.  If you cannot, then it is gone and you will have to get it repierced.  But if you can, get to a piercer and have them insert a nostril screw and then just leave your piercing alone and let the body heal itself.

Good luck

hi thanks for all your help i have inserted an L shape nose stud which i bought and got rid of the other one. I have had it in almost a week now as i had to pierce the inside again as it had closed up.

I now have this new nose stud in and the bump started to go down apart from the past couple of days the bump has started to show a bit.  I have stopped cleaning it with savlon woundwash and occasionally soak it in boiling water. Do you have any advice on what i can do or should i just carry on with what i am doing will it go down?

What would be your advice now?

You obviously did not read our previous message as we have already told you that there is no aftercare for the nostril piercing and cleaning it at all other than regular face washing will irritate it.  You have seen the effect of your cleaning with savlon as the bump is starting to return.

Boiling water, is not good for any tissues as it will do more damage than good.  Please DO NOT USE at all.

Just wash your face as you would normally do each day and leave the piercing alone.  The L shaped jewellery can still fall out relatively easy so please be careful when you sleep.

Keep in touch

Thank you so much for your help, the other night my piercing fell out again and had to push a straight stud in again to get it through the hole before putting the L stud in again.

I have realised that the reason it was falling out was due to the bump as it was making the stud hang out more. I have done what you said and left my nose alone i wash my face as normal.  I have stopped sea salt soaks and boiling water and i think the bump is starting to go down as the stud is not sticking out as much as it used to it sits right on my nose!

I will right back in a week or so and say how it is but thanks so much for your help really appreciated :) x x
