i had my nape pierced on canada day.  its now october and starting to look kind of bad.  it may just be because of my shirt collars rubbing against it causing irritation or whatever.

my piercer (while he may not be right) told me it was infected and to start cleaning it 3 times a day for 15 minutes with sea salt instead of what i was doing, saline solution twice a day for 5 min.

the piercing is redish purple with scabs dry skin i think on top of where the bar is.  the bar is sore to touch sometimes and then it hurts to move the balls around.

its also kind of swollen.  When i first got the piercing i didnt feel any pain or irritation from it so this is all kind of weird to me.  this is my first surface piercing and i love it.

please tell me how to keep it and help it heal better?

You have been overcleaning your piercing even before the piercer made the recommended changes.

What the problem is that you are over doing it and salt water saline solution is drying and damaging.  This will excellerate migration for this piercing because it is delicate in the first place.  It is not infected, only severely irritated.

The rubbing from your clothing and the cleaning abuse are definitely going to be factors and all we can suggest is that you STOP doing anything to your piercing and leave it alone.

If the piercing has not shown signs of migration, then maybe it can be saved.  But if there is problems, you are going to lose this piercing.

All we can do is hope!
