Hi-
I got my frenum pierced (a small ring right beneath the head) about a week and a half ago and had no problems with it for the first few days. I have been washing it twice a day with antibacterial soap. Yesterday, however, I started to feel pain in that area, which continued and worsened all day today.
Today when I came home, I had an inordinate amount of crust that had built up all over the ring and the piercing - although the pus that is coming out of the wound is whitish in color, it had dried to a dark brown crust.
Where the piercing is, the area is swollen and enlarged - it feels as though there is a physical lump beneath the skin surrounding the piercing.
Help! I'm assuming it's infected, but I don't know how to treat it - I'm hesitant to go to the doctor, but I'm willing to do so if it's really severe.
Thanks-
Please seek medical attention! We cannot diagnose without seeing the piercing.
Please STOP cleaning the piercing, this is your main problem. Over cleaning will dry out the delicate tissues and your body will respond by sending the white blood cells to fix the problem. This is where you are getting the crusties. Why they turn brown, we cannot say. If you have a lump, please see a doctor.
Thanks
