My boyfriend got his ear pierced with a needle using a good captive bead surgical stainless ring. His piercing though does not seem to be healing. He started out washing it twice a day with soap, and then eased off slowly, getting lazy, but now, it seems like its trying to heal onto the ring. Then when he moves it, it sticks to the ring and then it is raw again. Any suggestions??
You did not tell us how long it has been pierced and how long ago has he stopped cleaning it. This information is important because the piercing should not be 'sticking' to the jewellery. If you attempt to move the ring when the piercing is dry, then it will 'stick' and tug on the tissues. This could result in some damage and could explain some of the problems he is experiencing.
If the piercing is over 2 weeks old, then he should not be cleaning or moving the jewellery at all. The body now is trying to heal the piercing. The more he moves it, the longer it will take to form the granulation tissue inside the piercing (this is how the body heals a piercing).
Any more information you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks for your answer and sorry its taken so long for me to reply. His piercing was about 3 weeks old, and her just stopped moving and cleaning it and now everything is okey-fine. Thanks!!
Glad to read that his piercing is doing well.
Take care
