Hi

Ive had my nose piercied 3 months ago.  Next to my piercing there is a small bump, and its been there for over 2 months now.  My piercings isnt healed yet, because I keep hitting it (Im not sure if that's the reason that its not healing).  Is there anything which I can do to make the bump go away, and speed up the healing process.

Because you knock the piercing when you sleep, there is not much you can do to stop that and putting a bandaid may only irritate the tissues even more.

Were you given any aftercare to do for your piercing?  At our shop there is nothing extra that you do for this piercing.  You just wash your face as you normally would being careful when you dry it not to get the towel caught on the jewellery.  If you use anything like salt water or bactine, please stop.  These products are harsh for any piercing.

For clarification, any piercing takes a full year to completely heal.  This means that the granulation tissue is completely formed after a year.  The process is the slowest healing our body does.  So please be patient.

Keep in touch with your progress.

The ear cleaning solution you get with a gun piercing is extremely harsh and drying for any piercing.  If you have been using this product, please stop.  Leave the piercing alone and let the body do its job of healing itself.

The more you do to any piercing, the more problems you will experience.  If you also have a ear lobe stud inside your nose, please get something without the backing as we have had several people coming into our shop to have this backing removed and its almost impossible without causing great discomfort to the client.  The longer its left in place, the more difficult it will be to get it out.

Good luck

i did stop usin the ear cleanin solution a long time ago...wel ive been leaving the piercing alone for 3 weeks now..the bump has reduced n nearly gone..but 2dy, i decided to change the piercing, and when i took my stud out, it started to bleed..i just wanted to know why that happened.  Its been 4 months that i had my nose pierced.  Is it not healed yet?

Because you used the ear cleaning solution, you did some damage to the surrounding tissues and it does take some time for the body to get rid of the residue.  So it did not surprise us to read that your piercing bleed when you changed it.  You may have irritated some tissues when removing the jewellery.

Now for the question of healing.  Piercings heal by secondary intent and this is the longest healing time our bodies have.  For any piercing, it will take about a year to fully heal.  This means that the granulation tissue has been fully formed inside the piercing.  Until that time, the body is still healing itself.

Try your best not to change the jewellery often so that your body does not respond as it did this time for you.
