I had my nose pierced on monday. Im confused as to how to care for it.
My salon said clean it three times a day with saline solution and soap using a q tip. However im unsure on which technique to use to clean the piercing. Im terrified of it getting septic as i have heard your brain can get subsequently infected.

You did not tell us how you were pierced. Was it done with a gun and a earring stud? You mention a salon and we find that this is the general technique used at these places.
Please DO NOT clean your piercing at all. The body takes care of this piercing. We have found that cleaning this piercing only creates other problems that take several weeks to clear up before the piercing looks healthy. Salt water in any form is very harsh for any piercing. Saline solution is a form of salt... too strong of a solution and will dry out the tissues and you will develop the bump because this is what we have seen with this piercing.
We will give you a strong reason why not to clean. You breathe in lots of bacteria from the air. Do you get sick every day? We do not believe so. Therefore the body has the ability to protect you from getting sick from the air. So cleaning is not necessary.
Just wash your face as you normally do. Be careful with drying your face as the stud can get caught into the towel and you can lose it very easily.

Do you have a nostril screw or a pin in your nose? It is very rare for your nostril piercing to become infected. The most common problem is overcleaning which leads to the bump.
