i got my cheeks pierced on christmas eve with 18mm bars and got told i cant change them for 6 months is this true cause the bars are huge and i bite them ever time i try and eat.
You did not state what your aftercare was is but that is definitely too long to insert into a cheek piercing.
Aftercare should last about 2-3 weeks and by the end of 6 weeks, your piercings should be back to normal. At that time, we would encourage you to get fitted shafts so that you would not damage your teeth, gums, inside mouth area. This is what we provide for our clients.
There is no way that you should keep these long barbells in place for 6 months, you can do some real damage to your mouth and that could be costly.
We pierce the cheek with a 10-12mm length barbell. On average, cheek piercings become about 6-8 mm in length after the 6 weeks. You must be very uncomfortable with the one you have. Does it have a flat back inside your mouth? If not, you are looking for labret jewellery for your piercings.
