Hey there, I have had a labret piercing for about 10 weeks with a bar and all has been fine and I wanted to change to a segment ring however after wearing the ring for a couple of days, it was irritating and hurting a little and so I took it out and put the bar back in and it is fine again. Is it possible to wear a ring after being pierced with a bar? Should I try a bar closure ring?

Thanks

Labret piercings are usually placed lower on the lip, so the disc on the back of the stud does not hit your teeth. Lip piercings are closer to the margin of the lip, so a ring can wrap around the tissue. Two different placements. Trying to put a ring of any kind in a labret piercing can be expected to be uncomfortable.

Ah yes I see what you mean. When they asked me where I wanted it placed I asked for it to be quite high and so the piercing I had does hit my teeth and sits high up against my lip so maybe I have a lip piercing and don't know it!?
The ring didn't sit flush against my lip but did seem as though it may be a little small as I have quite a full bottom lip. I will go and see my piercer and see what they recommend. Thanks.
