As stated in the subject, how long should we wait to change the stud of a Labret piercing?
Mine's 2 weeks old and I want to put a stud in that is just a bit longer because of the swelling. I'm not sure what the length is of the current stud I have in but I would like one that is 1 8 to maybe 3 16 longer to allow more movement.
Right now I have less than a 1 16 inch of room between the ball and my outer skin. And yes the inside is nesting some but I understand this happens with new piercings.
I figure a longer post would reduce the nesting a bit.
TIA
In the other topic we get into the length of the shaft in greater detail, please read your other message with our response.
We do have longer labret shafts and because of the problems you are having, now that we have some of the answers to the questions we asked, please get a longer shaft into your labret NOW!
If necessary, get the piercer to insert it. You may have some difficulty and soreness.
Ok thanks I did read the other posts and responded to them. I have a 3 8 I just got yesterday to use for now and I'm going to order an even longer one from Blackstar.
I just changed it out!!! It was a combination of a post that was too short 5 16" and a spiked tip that wasn't the right thread to fit so it slid down the post twice as far as it was supposed to. I put the original ball back on and with the new 3 8" post gives it plenty of room to slide now. I feel much better and now the thing can heal like it's supposed to.
I'll keep ya posted on the progress. I think it will be fine now from what you've told me in the other posts and this one. I'll keep up the Listerine rinses to make sure that little pocket heals correctly. Thanks very much for the help I really appreciate it.
We are so happy that you got a longer shaft and that it took the pressure off your tissues. And yea, the spike thing may not have been a good idea to have used so early on, maybe after 6-8 weeks of being healthy, you may try it again (just wear it during the daytime and put on the ball when going to sleep).
But for the Listerine, PLEASE STOP using it... Too much of this stuff is not good. Listerine should only be used for the time we recommend (see our aftercare). After that, just regular dental hygiene is necessary. Do you want to burn your mouth and irritate the tissues further?
Since you got a 3 8" (which is the size we start with), you probably will not need a longer shaft than that.
Thanks for the help. After a couple of days with the 3 8" post it feels so much better and looks 10 times better than that picture of before. ;D
Hurray, we are glad to read the good news.
Take care
