I've had my tongue pierced for exactly a week. the swelling finally went all the way down, i think. i have a whitish (sometimes brown but i think due to coffee) film on my tongue. i'm thinking of picking up some amosan or gly-oxide when i can find it. but i was wondering if i can stop using mouthwash or limit it to once daily. if i limit mouthwash use will the film (or thrush as i suspect) go away?

im totally used to eating. and the only pain is directly around the piercing when i put pressure on it with the normal discharge. does this all sound normal? and is it safe to deep kiss or drink alcohol yet?

thanks

NO. you have to keep mouthwashing until 3 weeks time is up.  Do you have a thick yellow film on your tongue that makes you feel like you have a shag carpet in your mouth?  If not, then you do not have a yeast infection.  If you do, then you will require Amosan and follow the package instructions carefully.  If you use the Amosan, then you cannot continue the mouthwash.  Once you finish with the Amosan, if its not 3 weeks, yet, then return to the mouthwash increasing the time between the rinses.

The discharge you may have is underneath the tongue where the new epithelial tissue is forming and there is a white discharge for about 3 days.  If you disturb this discharge, then it will continue until it does its job.

As you are a week into your piercing, you can drink but not excessively.  You have been able to kiss since you got this piercing.  We are only worried about alcohol drinking for the first 5 days.
