Bump -- What else...

So I am determined to just leave it alone!

When washing my face at night should I just wash around it with my cleanser?

Should I clean the stud with the ointment my piercer gave me?

Will putting a bandaid over it at night really help, becuase mine will fall out at night if I don't but it seems to just irritate it more.

And what if for some reason it starts to get gross...should I clean it off?

Finally, how long will it take to go away?

Hiya, from what the forum moderator says dont clean the piercing with anything the more you clean it the longer the bump will stay let the body heal itself.  I had the bump for a month or so on and off all I did was wash my face as normal going around the piercing, then rinsing my face with water, splashing over the piercing to make sure if there was any face wash on the piercing to get it off, I have had my piercing for 3 months now I dry my face with kitchen towel so as not to snag the piercing on a towel.  I dont get crusties any more but to get the gunk off I used  a q-tip dipped in water and gently went around the piercing and got crusties off.
I dont go to bet with a plaster on but I do use some surgical tape and some gauze, cut a strip long enough to go over your nose pu the gauze on the tape and losely tape it over the piercing not to tight, I had a straight nose stud in and it never came out while I was asleep, I have a nose screw in now but I still use it incase I knock it out.  Sorry for the novel type answer but I hope some of it helps.  I never thought I would be able to leave mine alone but I did.  Good Luck with you piercing.

Thanks toots for your good advice.

To Shinings001:

Please do not use any ointment on the piercing.  Its probably oil based and this will clog the area and cause problems.

Wash your face as you normally would and pat dry your face not to irritate the piercing.  Do NOT bandaid as it will just irritate further, though it sounds like you have a straight stud in place.  Please get either a L-shaped or nostril screw so that it does not fall out so easily.

We cannot say how long it will take as each person is different and the type of jewellery and what you are cleaning your face with will all determine how long it will take.  Good luck
