I got my nose periced on January 13 2007. I've pretty much had some kind of irration bump there. But now i have this huge gross looking wart bump that is pushing my pericing to the side. It is discusting and when i look striaght in the mirror the bump is totally hiding the pericing. A few things I want to know. 1. Will this for sure go away? 2. How long till this will go away? 3. What is anything I can do beside LEAVE IT ALONE. Is there anything else that might help?
I have two kids .. My baby hit my pericing sometimes which is why I think it is like this .. maybe. HELP.
Should I come in and get it changed?
I know exactly how you feel. I had my nose pierced in late December of 2006, and I've been fighting the bump for quite some time now. Mine does exactly what you described, it gets huge and outright hides my piercing, and it's really embarrassing.
All I can tell you is what I have read here on this forum. It is best to leave it alone, and let the body heal itself. Mine is slowly starting to do better. It still has days where it's big and wart like, but it also has days where it dries out and gets much smaller. I'm hoping that this is a good sign and means that someday soon it will go away for good.
Perhaps someone else here will be able to help you. I wish you the best of luck!
UPDATE:
For the last few days ive tryed to completely ignore it and.......... the BUMP is shrinking! I hope this means the end of the bump.
If the bump goes away is it safe for me to change my percing then? Or will it come back? How long should I wait?
Yes, your baby hitting your piercing will cause a problem. My son head-butted me and that was the start of my problems, though my piercing was already irritated from the salt soaks I was doing.
I went to the extreme to leave my bump alone and it would dry out and shrink and then flare up again for no apparent reason, so I finally went and had a piercer look at it. As it turned out, the skin in my nose had grown around the screw, so it had to be taken out. It was pretty aweful but it healed up really fast, and I got repierced on the other side of my nose. I have done nothing with this piercing except rinse with warm water in the shower, and it's done great. No problems.
So, if you want maybe you could just have your nostil checked at a piercing studio to make sure there is nothing funky going on that maybe you don't realize.
But if they tell you to do salt soaks or tell you to put anything on it, DON"T DO IT!!
if you want to change your nose ring after the bump is gone, I would wait a good long time, at least 6 weeks. Sometimes changing the ring stud can cause the bump to come back, especially with a piercing as new as yours.
Good luck.
Glad the bump is shrinking. Do your best not to injure it again. Children are so unpredicatable!
Thanks ChristiH27 for your input and support. Sorry to read that you had to get it repierced but on the other side, your piercing is doing well using our method.
Good luck to both
