i got my nostril pierced 5 days ago with a needle, it has a screw in it, and it still hurts and is red. when i wake up in the morning, the diamond is flush with my nose, as if the inside of the nostril is so swollen it sucks the screw in.
i have been using lots of bactine, saline solution, and cleaning it twice a day with antibacterial soap. is all this attention what is keeping it irritated?
should i just cut down to saline? or what other advice can you offer?

Please STOP using the bactine and saline solution as these products are harsh for a fresh piercing. The result of using these products is that you have additional swelling.
If you keep this up, you will develop a bump and then it will take even more time for your piercing to heal. The products only irritate and dry out the tissues. This is NOT the effect you want to have on a fresh piercing.
