Biotene is not recommended to be used in the tongue aftercare because:

Alcohol is NOT an active ingredient in Listerine, and that its presence is not harmful in the least.

Biotene is totally unsuitable for care of an oral injury. It was formulated to help promote normal oral ecology, and as such is an excellent product for the second ten day aftercare period. It will PROMOTE the growth of bacteria, and is used as a treatment for dry mouth, a common complaint in hospitals. So yes it was hospital-tested. It was tested as a treatment for xerostomia!

Biotene will help keep a healthy mouth healthy. It will not suppress the bacterial population, and is not suitable for the initial aftercare of a tongue piercing, or of any substantial oral injury.

If you want more information on Biotene, check out http: www.lifesvigor.com desc Biotene-Dental Biotene-Dental.htm.

In the meantime, for the first ten days after a tongue piercing, use undiluted yellow listerine every hour and a half. We have not yet found an effective substitute.

People should not propagate misinformation like this would take the time to get their facts straight. Instead they take two seconds to read a marketing blurb, and without the expertise to understand what they are reading, and without any incentive to research their facts before they open their mouths, they hurt other people.

Too many people are getting hurt by this type of incompetence!
