We went to manufacture of Bactine and this is what their website wrote (www.bactine.com):
Bactine was first introduced in 1950 and is a first aid product to help prevent skin infection and for the temporary relief of pain and itching associated with minor: cuts, scrapes, burns. It is NOT recommended for any type of puncture wound. Its active ingredient is benzalkonium chloride.
They had a question if it could be used on body piercings and this is the answer.
We cannot recommend that Bactine be used for this purpose since body piercings are considered puncture wounds. Consumers should consult their doctor for treatment of such wounds.
We have been trying to get the message out that Bactine is BAD for piercings, now the manufacturer is also stating this fact on their website.
