Another bump problem

Ok ill start with the basics.

I had my nose pierced with a titanium segment ring about 2 months ago.
The piercing itself was fine, but i managed to knock it once or twice quite badly within the first week 2 weeks.
Anyway i cleaned the piercing each morning, and night with Savlon spray(http: www.dooyoo.co.uk first-aid savlon-antiseptic-wound-wash 1028693 )

About 2 days after my piercing i got a cold, and was off work for a few days, which didn't help things.
After about 2 3 weeks the bump was fairly bad, and went to my piercer to get it checked, they said it could still be scar tissue healing, and that i shouldnt use what i was using to clean it, and game me some "after piercing lotion"
The ingredients were - Aqua and Benzalkonium Chloride 0.1%.

At this point id like to mention that most mornings when i woke up there was blood around the piercing, and it bled slightly when i cleaned it after showering and on a night.

After using the new lotion it didn't solve anything, and i read up on the internet that it was down to irritation. And that tea tree oil could remove the bump.
I changed my bed sheets first of all, as they werent at their cleanest, and i cleaned the bump as i had been then applied tea tree oil for about 3 days. This made it dry but it just bled when the skin peeled. And i stopped using this after those 3 days.

Since reading up properly i realised the best thing to do is leave it alone, just rinse it in the shower on a morning, and dry with a paper towel. Not using any cleaners etc.
I've stopped myself picking my nose in my sleep by wearing socks on my hands at night.
And just allow water to run off my hand in the shower over the area. I clean the rest of my face as usual.

I've been doing this for almost 3 weeks now, and although it slightly reduced at one point, its seems to have stayed the same, still red but has stopped bleeding generally.
After any night out on the town it will bleed, due to my sleeping heavily and not noticing it.
The piercing still lets out whiteish yellow ish discharge when i dry it.
It's not painful in itself, appart from the bump, but only if i touch it, which i dont now.

All in all, after all my messing with it, ive stopped for about 3 weeks, and it's not really gone down, or calmed itself. Aside from it not bleeding after every night asleep.

Any insight?

I can send a picture or 2 via email if you contact me with an address.

Thanks for your time.

As you can see the more you do to get rid of the bump, the longer it takes for it to completely disappear.

Please STOP doing and using all products.  The piercing solution has a Benzalkonium Chloride which we use in a higher concentration to start the sterilization procedure.  This product states that it irritates skin.  So as you use it, you are doing more damage to it.  Tea tree oil is great for parasites, not bumps.  The bumps are fibrous tissue that the body has ready so that it can patch up the hole.  The body does not realize that there is jewellery in the hole.  As the irritation is reduced, the body will reabsorb the fluid and the bump will dissipate.

You just have to be patient and stop abusing the tissues.

Well just to update since i last posted, i've still not been using anything on my bump, and it's not really changed at all.

I've been told by one piercer that this bump is caused by the healing tissue being ripped, either by the piercing being pulled pushed etc while it's attached to the healing tissue via the bodys natural fluids. And so the skin forms outside of the usual area, and should in time heal.

Problem with that is, as im wearing a ring, it's almost inevitable i'm going to move knock the ring in my sleep and cause the tissue to tear again. Which in turn will then cause blood to clot around the broken tissue, and when this is knocked again, it will cause more damage as the blood with pull more tissue away than before.

Would it be best to change to a small stud so that it's not going to be knocked about in my sleep?

Thanks for your time

Yes, if the ring is being hit then the bump will remain.  Changing it to a stud will help to reduce that irritation and the bump should start to reduce quite quickly from that point onwards.

Once you get the piercing looking well, you should be able to switch it back to the ring.
