It was recommended to me to wash my piercing with Provon in the shower. This is to be done once a day. During the day spray H2Ocean and at night do a sea salt soak with a few drops of tea tree added to it.
The APP recommends Provon and also talks about sea salt soaks. On this site it is recommended to do little as the body will heal itself. For someone like me who is new to piercings what is the best information. It can be a bit confusing.
Thanks
We have been piercing for over 23 years and with our extensive knowledge we believe that our aftercare is better than the APP.
Every time that you clean or do something to your piercing, you irritate it. So we are trying to limit the amount of irritation done to the piercing so that your body can do its job --- that is to heal.
Our aftercare which is under the heading "Blackstar's Aftercare" you will find the navel aftercare.
Since you had the piercing done in February, you should no longer be cleaning or turning the jewellery. If you are still using anything on the piercing, PLEASE STOP!
Let us know what you have been doing and how is it doing now.
I got my piercing done Dec. 2004. It is now four months old and I do as little as possible. I still clean it in the shower but like I do the rest of me. I also began to use Emu oil on it and that is great stuff. I read about it on Elyane Angel's site Rings of Desire.
What do you think of this stuff? This is all I do now. My piercing looks great.
When you shower, do not actually put soap on the piercing, but around it. The water will run over the piercing and clean it. Turning the ring at this point will only irritate the piercing.
If you are using Emu oil lotion and the piercing is looking great then the piercing was probably dry and chapped. Use only when needed because over using any product will cause problems.
Glad that the piercing is well.
