I'm probably getting my tongue pierced in a month or so and I just have a few questions before I do.
I wear a top and bottom retainer at night. should I wait to wear it until my piercing is healed or is it not that big of a problem?
my parents main worry is nerve damage. what is the chance of me having a serious problem like this? Jim guessing it really depends on the skill of the piercer.

If you wear retainers in your mouth, then we recommend waiting until you dont have to before getting this done. You could damage your tongue if the barbell gets caught in one of the retainers.
If you can choose not to wear the retainers, then you can get it pierced but wait until you have the fitted barbell before wearing them again.
We cannot tell you where another piercing shop will do the piercing, we can only tell you that where we pierce the tongue, there is no nerve damage ever.
If you lift up your tongue and look in a mirror you will see 2 muscle bundles and then an indent, its in that indent that we pierce. The greater concern we have is the aftercare and we strongly recommend you following out aftercare which is listed on our forum.
